One high school is preparing to pay out big over what was once considered an innocent gesture.

The uproar came after the school’s yearbook was found to contain students making the “OK” hadn’t gesture, which has apparently been approbated as a symbol of racism.

Newsweek reported that, “Administrators at the Oak Park and River Forest High School announced it will spend a total of $53,794 to replace the 1,750 copies of “Tabula” after staff found 18 photos of students making an upside down OK hand sign.”

It’s a ridiculous scenario to be sure as multiple officials note that students of “various races, ethnicities, genders, and grades” where making the hand sign.

The truth of the matter is that the children where engaged in what’s known as “the circle game,” where children try to fool each other into looking at their hands.

However Superintendent Joylynn Pruitt-Adams contends, “We are concerned that the gesture will become more closely associated with White supremacy in the future. Publishing the photos in question could not only harm students today but could subject students to potentially a lifetime of questions or penalty from colleges, employers, etc.”

This is where the pc culture has gotten us, 4chan trolls invented the hoax that the gesture was racist and now out of fear it’s being banned from public view and costing an educational institution thousands of dollars.

What a joke.
