Patti Davis is the daughter of late President Ronald Reagan, and she has a strong opinion about the current state of GOP politics.
During an interview on “Through Her Eyes” Davis claims that, “there’s no resemblance to the Republican Party of my father’s time.”
She then began a blistering criticism of President Trump starting with, “how about the crickets when Trump keeps assaulting the constitution,” Davis asked. “I mean, they don’t say anything. They don’t stand up to him.”
She also slammed Trump for how “he talks like an autocrat.” She added, “he befriends autocrats. He supports autocrats. He believes them. He wants to be one.”
Davis also pose that the late Reagan would not look kindly upon the current state of affairs.
“I think he would be horrified,” Davis said. “I think he would be heartbroken, because he loved this country a lot and he believed in this country.”
However it’s hard to take her words to heart. Davis was famously known to oppose her father’s policies and speak out against him. It was only after he was dying of Alzheimer’s that Davis states she reconciled with her father.
Realistically it looks as if Davis simply wanted to use her father’s name to rebuke President Trump and his presidency.
